Renaissance supports the communities surrounding its base and by choice of recommended accommodation.
Our Staff originate from the communities in which we operate and local craftsmen from the surrounding villages. Whether it be tailors or carpenters, we engage them whenever possible.
Certain Camps and Lodges we recommend support the surrounding inhabitants by giving part of the accommodation price paid to the community, or by building schools for the children. Some Lodges even provide funds to their staff to construct their own houses.
Our Safaris protect the environment! We achieve this by employing self-developed environmentally friendly methods and equiping our Guides with superior knowledge. These ensure responsible and sustainable tourism.
Shanga = Bead > Shangaa = Amaze
Shanga Shangaa is a project dedicated to the physically challenged by producing glass beads and making necklaces. Nine of the twelve members are mute, ladies who have been leading trying lives due to their physical challenges. The project moreover avails bead making knowledge to others in need ~ such as street children and other physically challenged people so that they too, can increase their livelihoods whilst creating sustainable, beautiful products. Renaissance is proud to support this project.
In many parts of Africa, "Frankfurt" stands for practical and applied conservation. For more than half a century, FZS has been the logistic backbone for Tanzania National Parks (TANAPA) and thus continues the work that Bernhard Grzimek started in the 1950's.
The main aim of all Africa projects is to establish know-how on site and to create an infrastructure that allows the local park authorities an efficient and sustainable park management. The coordination of the projects is conducted in the FZS office in Seronera, Tanzania.
Renaissance is a corporate member of the Frankfurt Zoological Society.
This helps to support sensitive conservation projects in Mahale, Serengeti, Loliondo and Selous and educates communities about their surrounding eco-system.
